The skylight curtains and roller blinds at Chidori addressed a familiar urban dilemma: the need for shading without sacrificing light and view. While glass skylights introduced openness and served as architectural highlights, they also exposed dust and unwanted visual elements from above. Likewise, balcony windows overlooking lively streets, beautiful in either sun or rain, required a solution that controlled light while preserving the character of the scenery.
For this reason, the curtain system was carefully considered in terms of materials, tones, and installation details. The semi-sheer fabric softened daylight and subtly blurred the background, while still allowing the movement of tree branches and street life to remain perceptible. When fully retracted, the curtains disappeared neatly, restoring an unobstructed sense of openness and connection to the outdoors.
