The ceiling light system designed by Lam Weaving Spaces in collaboration with The Lab Saigon for the Bake Flagship project is a unique and sophisticated piece of art. The standout feature of this system is the use of metal mesh as the primary material. The metal mesh is intricately shaped and arranged in soft, flowing waves, blending an industrial aesthetic with organic forms. As light filters through the mesh, it creates fascinating patterns of light and shadow, adding depth and a sense of motion to the space.
The combination of LED lighting and metal mesh creates a warm ambiance while retaining a sharp, modern edge. The layered mesh not only diffuses the light effectively but also casts intricate shadows on the ceiling and walls, bringing the space to life. This lighting system serves not only as a functional lighting solution but also as a piece of art, transforming the interior into a visually captivating experience.
“The specific brief and clear idea, with the cross section of a croissant from BAKES being the main concept for the bar ceiling, was executed by The Lab Saigon in collaboration with LAM. The concise and clear idea provided a solid foundation for LAM to begin modeling, further researching materials, and experimenting with solutions. Steel mesh materials come in a wide variety of types, features, and effects. To find a material with stable structure, sufficient softness, appropriate openness, good light interaction, safety, and hygiene, numerous trials were necessary to identify the right mesh. The fabrication and installation techniques also needed to be calculated carefully to ensure both safety and aesthetic quality for the functioning space. Behind the seemingly simple appearance of the final product are some interesting detailed technical calculations for the accessories involved.”
