“Tây Nguyên are renowned for their waterfalls, with streams of water cascading from high rocky crevices, creating majestic scenes. The striking yet harmonious contrast between the towering mountains and the soft or fierce waterfalls, depending on the time of year, is awe-inspiring. The exhibition space at the museum has a particularly interesting layout. Between two slanted, curving concrete walls runs a narrow skylight along the length of the museum structure. With the proportions, volume, materials, lighting, and local characteristics in mind, the designer aimed to make the arrangement of the exhibits an integral part of this fascinating connection. The idea was to mimic the soft flow of water running along the skylight and cascading down grandly, much like the magnificent waterfalls of the Central Highlands. The concept is simple, concise, and fairly easy to execute. The primary task was to select the fabric material and color that would achieve the best effect. Smooth, soft, and thin silk voile with a slight shimmer was chosen to interact well with the light. Every moment of the high-altitude installation process was also fascinating. Long stretches of fabric draped over the tall scaffolding, shifting as the workers carefully guided them into place. The designer was able to adjust the real-life proportions directly on-site. The construction process is a key part of the experience that LAM rarely skips, as it offers potential inspiration for other ideas.”
