Lighting with fascinating effects for the space at The Running Bean.
The pendant lighting system in The Running Bean project, designed by Lam Weaving Spaces in collaboration with H&D Designer, is a highly artistic installation that blends material and form in a thoughtful way. The primary material used is bamboo fiber, which is stretched and bent to create soft, flowing shapes. This lighting system serves not only as a functional light source but also as a decorative highlight, bringing a natural and serene vibe to the space.
The design method involves stretching bamboo fibers over metal frames to create smooth and elegant curves. The lighting is embedded within these forms, and as the light passes through the bamboo strands, it casts a gentle, diffused glow throughout the space. The warm hues of the light, paired with the natural bamboo texture, evoke a sense of calmness and connection to nature, while also creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere ideal for the café setting.
“Stretch fabric ceiling lights. In a space that uses natural materials, a large ceiling light panel presents a real challenge. Beyond the lighting technique itself, the choice of materials must be compatible. Sheer fabric serves as a soft transitional material between the large illuminated area and the other materials in the space. The fabric’s light diffusion and texture can be selected to meet the specific lighting and material effect requirements. To keep the fabric taut and smooth without sagging, precise stretching, adjustment techniques, and appropriate framing details are necessary. This product was a collaboration between LAM and Thiện’s team.”
