Weaving Nipa

Designed: LAM.WEAVINGSPACES
Mockup installed: LAM.WEAVINGSPACES

Weaving Nipa is a proposal that utilizes nipa palm leaves, a species commonly found in Thủ Thiêm, a land surrounded by the Saigon River and closely associated with the riverine landscape of Southern Vietnam. Rather than treating nipa leaves as a mere cladding layer, the project explores and maximizes their inherent qualities, including leaf length, stem structure, veins, and surface texture, to weave a spatial structure for an outdoor experiential environment. The project has recently been awarded Emerging Designer in the Innovation category at the EU-Vietnam Sustainable Design Awards 2025.
