Workshop Space 2: “Creating Sustainable Design Products with Andrea Mancuso” in the series of events preparing for the launch of the EVSDA award organized by the EU Delegation in collaboration with ELLE Decoration Vietnam.
By cutting the large paper surface from Workshop 1 into smaller pieces and reassembling them into a new whole, LAM reconstructed and repurposed the previously used materials to create the spatial setting for Workshop 2. The design was inspired from the image of termites consuming wooden planks, where wood became both nourishment and, paradoxically, the very structure of their nest. Termite mounds deeply fascinate LAM for their intricate internal organization, collective life, and enigmatic external forms. Within an entirely new context of volume and spatial configuration, this design approach not only established a distinct environment for the event but also sought resonance with the current exhibition at 11:11 Espace. It formed a cohesive framework for event activities, circulation, and artistic engagement. The monumental dó paper surface, which previously functioned as a lightweight roof structure in Workshop 1, was transformed in Workshop 2 into partitions that articulate space and direct circulation. These partitions created continuity while redefining the existing interior into functional zones, including the main hall, foyer, artwork core and the carved openings that framed and interacted with the pre-existing exhibits.
