Workshop space – EVSDA 1

Design and installation : LAM.WEAVINGSPACES
Location : HO CHI MINH, VIET NAM

Workshop space: “Sustainable design for modern inhabitation”. The program’s theme is sustainable design and the opening workshop took place in an interesting space at S.pace. In the role of creating artwork and designing space, LAM proposed a new experiment on the structure based on traditional Do paper material and inspired by the image of ripe rice fields in Vietnam. After surveying the actual status of S.pace, LAM wanted to experiment on a large volume. The artwork plays the role of building a ‘symbolic auditorium’ in a very large public space and connecting the active floors. The finished space resembles an auditorium with papier-mâché ceilings and walls and the ‘auditorium’ of the current status. The ceilings are backlit to show the papier-mâché technique like ripe rice fields – a characteristic of rural areas throughout Vietnam.
