The canopy system designed by Lam Weaving Spaces for ELLE Decoration Vietnam’s Pop-up Office creates a unique outdoor environment through the use of soft, white mesh fabric, connected in a geometric grid structure. “The reflective light from the stainless steel surface of the spiral staircase at De La Sól inspired LAM’s sunshade design for the display area’s front lobby. The existing structure consists of iron frames and pre-woven mesh netting. LAM’s proposed solution is to use layered mesh fabric to create sculptural forms. When illuminated, the free-flowing fabric shapes create layered effects, simultaneously regulating the amount of light passing through at different spots. The shadows cast on the ground are spontaneous and interesting. The existing mesh netting is secured with cable clips to prevent movement when in contact with the fabric. The focus is then on shaping the fabric forms to provide sun protection and achieve the desired visual effects!”
