Material – Technique – Space

Designed and Installed: LAM.WEAVINGSPACES
Location: UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE HCMC

Alongside LAM’s talk at the auditorium of the University of Architecture HCMC, an exhibition space was set up to present study models around the theme “Material – Technique – Space.” All materials were reused from previous events, including the honeycomb paper structure, which reached its seventh use cycle.

Two large wall surfaces, sharing the same structural logic but using different materials, extended along the main hall of the school. This helped expand the volume of the double-height hallway and formed a continuous display area, from small models to large mockups. As the event took place during the university’s Traditional Festival, LAM adjusted the design to fit the overall setup created by the students. The exhibition space and models were designed and built in a short time, using reused or familiar materials such as paper, fabric, and metal mesh. Through this approach, LAM aimed to emphasize the role of creativity in shaping spatial experience. Setting limits is also a way to explore the full potential of materials, without relying too much on ideal conditions. Creativity can emerge precisely from those limits, supported by experience in design, material understanding, and technical knowledge.
