A spacious setback, a small courtyard, a striking architectural structure, and a lush cluster of nypa palms by the riverside together formed the setting that first caught LAM’s attention – the place where the event would take place. The challenge was to create a gentle connection between these existing elements while making the most of the site’s conditions. LAM used fabric as a soft connective layer, attaching to the surrounding context and available anchor points to shape flexible spaces and subtly define zones. In some areas, the fabric was tensioned by the weight of river stones of varying masses, creating different degrees of tension and sculptural forms. As a result, the overall space felt light and open while still maintaining a necessary level of privacy, forming a fitting backdrop for the lighting of the event – open, youthful, and full of vitality.
