The Shape of Scent

Designed and Installed: LAM.WEAVINGSPACES
Location: HO CHI MINH CITY.  VIETNAM

When listening to NOTE – The Scent Lab discuss their approach to “designing scent,” LAM began to envision a possible form for something that is inherently intangible. The subtlety, fluidity, and quiet allure of fragrance seemed capable of being translated into a visual presence. This led to a question: Can scent be experienced not only through smell but also through sight? To explore this idea, LAM introduced a familiar material – metal mesh. The direct experimentation within the exhibition space unexpectedly generated new spatial sensations. From this process, The Shape of Scent emerged as a visual interpretation of fragrance. The freely interwoven layers of steel mesh, combined with a thematic color palette, minimal glass plinths, and carefully composed lighting, created a spatial installation that gave a physical expression to scent within the space.
