The curtain system in the Five-Bay House booth played a crucial role in shaping an open space while ensuring privacy, using lightweight, translucent, naturally draped sheer voile panels. They did not form rigid partitions or create a sense of separation. S.norm was inspired by Gian Nhà, the fundamental spatial module of traditional Vietnamese architecture, to design its exhibition setting as a long, pitched-roof house composed of five consecutive bays. A timber frame served as the primary load-bearing structure. The fabric was carefully selected by S.norm, considering material quality, visual effect, color tone, light permeability, and the appropriate supplier. LAM made mockups, fabrication tests, on-site installation, and direct adjustments to achieve the most refined detailing and desired spatial effect. Though made of the same voile material, different treatments yielded different results. When tensioned flat, the fabric worked as partitions. With minimal tensioning and support details, the intended volumes emerged. When allowed to hang freely, the fabric became soft, mid-height curtains that gently suggested transitions between functional zones. Rather than using a conventional backdrop, the entire booth was defined by spatial layering and light in constant motion.
